Field Service Engineer – North America
 

Boston Micro Fabrication (BMF) is looking for a Field Service Engineer to join our North American team.  As a Field Service Engineer, you will work the technical service team installing BMF 3D printing systems, train, and support customers.  If you enjoy working with customers in the field, while fixing and maintaining equipment, this is a great role for you! You will be the face of Boston Micro Fabrication, allowing you to build on going customer relationships.   

A sampling of the type of work you would be doing: 

  • Coordinate with new customers to help prepare them and their site for system installation. 
  • Travel to customer sites to physically setup the system hardware. 
  • Validate new machine capabilities at customer sites. 
  • Train new users on all processes required to operate BMF 3D printing systems. 
  • Support existed customers, providing guidance on best practices, when failures occur. 
  • Other projects as assigned 
  • 70% travel required 
  • Replying to customer inquiries in a timely manner 

Requirements: 

  • 2+ years’ experience in the field, installing equipment and training users OR a bachelor’s degree in engineering or science in robotics, electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with empathy for the customer.
  • To be a team player with excellent communication skills and excellent work ethic 
  • A good understanding of electromechanical systems and computer technology 
  • Self-motivated, self-starter able to work using own initiative without close supervision 

Competencies: 

  • Well organized and strong attention to detail 
  • A genuine strong interest in the additive manufacturing business 
  • 3D printing and/or CAD/CAM experience is preferred 
  • Troubleshooting

We chose BMF’s microArch 3D Printer due to its ability to replicate critical micro features. Their unique Projection Micro Stereolithography (PµSL) technology prints 3D parts with ultra-high resolution and accuracy, which is key to our business.
